You Can Always Go...To Magic Town
When you're looking to add some more tricks for your sleeve or show off the ones you've got hiding up there, you can head off (or fly off) to Magic Town, a fully interactive shopping and expo center for wizards and sorcerers. Just like the shopping malls in "Vacation," "Hot Date" and "Unleashed," there are several unique places to shop and explore and is well worth visiting for the ambience alone. The settings look fantastic and range in style from the happy and whimsical to the dark and sinister sides of magic.
Unlike previous expansion packs, however, there's much more to do than just spend, spend, spend. Magic Town can give you and your Sims the chance to earn "magicoins" to buy bigger and better spells, tricks or houses by dueling with other magicians and wizards. But if you cross the line or start abusing your abilities, the "SpellChecker" can slap you with a fine if you're not careful or starting to turn into a evil wizard - think of it as a military tribunal for magicians.
The duels take a long time to master but can be a lot of fun and even some of the shows, particularly in the spooky magic neighborhood, are just fun to sit and watch. Unfortunately, if your computer runs a little slower or isn't on the cutting edge in terms of memory and speed, the game can stall or freeze up fairly quickly, which can get aggravating.
Overall, "Makin' Magic" is the perfect way to end a series of games that have changed the face of interactive entertainment. One can only hope that "Sims 2" can live up to our expectations, which are already fairly high.
Pros
• Tons of new toys, gadgets and activities for your Sims
• Ambience and settings are pretty and plentiful
• It's just plain fun
Cons
• Advanced gameplay and graphics may take time to run on older computers
